Sierra Leone remains among the world’s poorest countries, ranking 180/187 countries in the United Nations Programme for Development (UNDP) Human Development Index. Preceding the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak, decades of economic decline and armed conflict had dramatic consequences on the economy.
